Paul Poiret the Patriot Saved Money For France

In her book, "Chanel", Edmonde Charles-Roux states that during
the First World War, when others were making money, Poiret had been
drafted into the French Army Quartermaster Corps and had succeeded, "by
standardizing the cut of army overcoats, in saving twenty-four inches of
cloth per soldier and four hours of labor per finished garment." This
information is credited to M. Contini and Yvonne Deslandres, "5,000 ans
d'elegance." -- Phil
