7 perfume by Lucien Lelong

7

In the early days of offering perfume, Lucien Lelong gave his fragrances simple names ... A, B, C and so on. Later on he chose more description names for fragrances such as Mon Image (1933) and (1935).

This fragrance is simply 7 so we're guessing that it's from the 1920's. We don't yet know who the perfumer was or who designed the (fairly standard) bottle and box, but our research team is trying to track this information down so that we can bring it to you.

It should be noted that Monsen and Baer, authorities on Lucien Lelong perfumes and collectors themselves, date 7 to 1951. This, however, seems odd because the style of the bottle. (They also date 6 as of 1951.) As a lover of glassware, and as a lover of varying his bottle designs — starting in the 1930's — we'll leave the dating on this one open. We would like to see additional proof that it came from the '20's ... or 1951.
