Dates: May 5 through May 9, 2008.
Time: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.
Place:601 West 26th Street (Starrett-Lehigh building, between 11th and 12th Avenues.) We are renting two side-by-side studio spaces for comfort and convenience. This building is the New York headquarters for both Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and Hugo Boss. The space we are renting is listed in the building directory under the name "Scene Interactive". The main studio is Room M225, on the "M" Second Floor. When using the elevator up to the class, use button "2M", not "2". This location is in New York City. The building is large. There will be flyers in the building to guide you!
5-Day Fee: $575
Lunch Breaks:For those who want it, we will provide lunch in one of the studios for each of the five days. The charge for this will be reasonable and it can save you the greater expense of eating at a local restaurant. Also, this will give attendees a chance to network with each other and share ideas. Modest coffee (and tea!) breaks will be included with the price of the course. If you wish, you may bring your own lunch.
Travel & Lodging: These are your responsibility and are not included in the cost of the course. We will be making some suggestions soon on what websites you might go to to find comfortable accommodations. The 26th Street location is particularly good for those driving into the city as it is just off the West Side Highway and there is (paid) parking in the neighborhood.
Registration Deadline:Registrations will be accepted up until April 25th. If registering before April 14th, a $75 deposit is required with the balance to be paid not later than April 14th. Cancellations received by April 25th will receive a full refund. No refunds for cancellations received after April 25th. Registration will be closed once 50 people have enrolled. Based on the inquiries we have received, we expect to sell out very quickly. (A standby list will be maintained, in case there are cancellations.)
Terms: $75 deposit required with registration. Balance due by April 14th. Full refund if cancellation is received by April 25th. No refunds after April 25th.

Hugues is a most interesting and knowledgeable speaker, having spent a lifetime working in the perfume industry in both France and the United States. Who is it for?

The 5-Day Course is superb for —

  • Custom perfume creators
  • R&D staff in perfumery and cosmetic companies
  • Perfumery and aromatherapy business owners
  • Anyone with a serious love of perfumery

FAQ's

Can I work on my own projects at the workshop? Yes, within the framework of the workshop you can see how this can be applied directly to your own projects and try them out. You can even bring your own materials along to use alongside the ones we supply.

Is it useful for those interested only in aromatherapy or natural perfumery? It is essential for them as most courses that avoid the synthetics give a narrow perspective and are actually misleading, not giving the necessary background for a true understanding their subject.

Is a chemistry background necessary? No, everything that you need to know is covered and no chemistry knowledge is assumed. Having said that, we frequently have PhDs and university professors attend our courses and they are usually impressed with the clear and easy way we deal with such a deep subject.

Preparation for the Course

No special preparation for the course is required and there are no prerequisites. However, if your interest lies in creating your own fragrances, having the Foundation Course in your hands well in advance of May 5th will better prepare you to ask questions ... both general questions about perfumery and questions about your own personal work.

This is an exceptional opportunity to discuss your work directly with perfumer Steve Dowthwaite, face to face. And you may find it disappointing if you wait until after the 5-Day Course to order a Foundation Course Kit, realizing that you have have missed out on this rare opportunity for face-to-face dialogue.

Please Note: We are planning a very interesting GIFT for those who signup early and prepay the fee in full. The gift will be the new PerfumersWorld Aromatherapy Training Kit. Those who prepay in full by the early signup deadline will receive this kit at the Course. Neither his new kit nor the 5-Day Course are intended to be substitutes for the all important PerfumersWorld Foundation Course.

Thank you for your interest!
